In honor of College and Career Readiness month, Charlotte TEEN would like to take the opportunity to share some tips on how to become an attractive college candidate with parents and teens!

Contrary to what many people think, the roads to college actually begins very early in life. Many parents who are successful in raising teens who are attractive to colleges and universities, start with conversations about college, career, talents, values and interests at a very young age.

These conversations are essential, so that when a student walks into a high school it is easy to understand their high school mission and identify an end goal. However there are many times where parents neglect to have these conversations early and teenagers enter high school not knowing how to properly prepare themselves for a career.

The truth of the matter is that colleges and universities are attracted to well-rounded students! Hence, college recruiting for well rounded students begins in the 9th grade.

That's right in the ninth grade students are not only expected to show great character, but they are judged on their character starting in the 9th grade all the way through out their high school career. A teens character is measured in high school by their grades, behavior, school involvement and hobbies. Ultimately, character determines what colleges, universities, scholarship, internships and other opportunities they are available to participate in.

So what if mom and dad never had this conversation?!?! Don't worry Charlotte TEEN's got you covered. We have compiled to do list for each grade level to make teenagers more attractive to colleges and universities. It is our sincere hope that you take this information and utilize it for the advancement of your future!
